I am serving as President for the 2009 NECA BOD year. We have started many programs that reflect the direction of the residents concerning the Recreation Center and its operation. More work is needed to be accomplished, therefore I am going to seek another term, although I am in favor of term limits and would gladly step down if we could adopt such a rule. |
Candidate: Eleanor Yogi I am requesting an opportunity to serve on the Board; a chance to 'give back' to the Association/Community. For 32 years my family have been fortunate to reside in this beautiful community. We've had access and benefited often from the use of the facility and the many programs NECA has offered. I attended Kapiolani Community College and had been employed by the State of Hawaii for nearly 40 years with the DOE and the Hawaii State Public Library System. |
Background: 26 year resident of Newtown Estates. Member of Building and Grounds Committee for 6 years, Architectural Committee for 3 years, and Covenants Committee for 2 years. Past Director for 3 years, including 1 year as Vice President. I work at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard as a civilian Project Engineering Manager and have been working there for 27 years. I am the Pearl City AYSO soccer Age Group Coordinator for the Under 19 Girls, where I also coach and referee for my 15 year old daughter’s team. While on the Building and Grounds Committee, we built the Health Center to a state of the art weight room on the way to making our Recreation Center being called one of the finest community centers in the state. Our Architectural and Covenant Committee’s have continued to keep Newtown a desirable community in which to live and prosper. Please mark you Proxy to be voted by Randall King. |
My objective as a volunteer is to restructure NECA operation and financial management including clearer visibility of financial status and availability of fund, modification of fiscal property management agreement with Hawaiiana to include balance sheet and fixed assets subsidiary ledger, also, formulation of long range financial plan to avoid the “unfunded obligation “ situation. I would like to participate in your current challenges for NECA improvements. Our community leader, Donald E. Devaney, redefines NECA mission and vision statement as guided by Dr. Diane Matsuoka. Next 3 years will be redefining one. |
Candidate: Thomas Kusatsu I am a Newtown resident for over 33 years. I have worked both in private industry and in public practices. I did the accounting for the Newtown Estates and Royal Summit developments under the developer, Mr. Herbert K. Horita. I sit on the Board of Directors of Kalihi YMCA and is a member of Kalihi Y’s Men’s and Women’s Club, which is service-oriented. Most recently, I am a working member of the NECA Budget & Finance committee and former Ad Hoc committee. Newtown is my home. If elected, I will continue to advocate for positive changes and aspire to keep the financial system sound and with transparency in financial dealings. |
Candidate: Patcharin Mills I have been a resident of Newtown for more than 20 years, my husband, a retired US Army Captain and Green Beret, raised our two daughters in Newtown and local public schools. Unfortunately my spouse has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and needs my constant attention. Still I want to serve this community. I was born n Thailand and want to be able to thank the USA by serving as a member of the NECA Board. I have past work experience as an office secretary and a cashier at the DOD Commissary System. |
Educational Background: Punahou High School. Whittier College – Double Major in Economics and Political Science. Cornell Law School – Juris Doctorate. Work Experience: Practicing Attorney for 11 years. Business Executive for 15 years. Community Service: Soccer Coach and Referee for A.Y.S.O. Judo Official and Instructor – Hodokan Judo Club and 50th State Judo. Arbitrator of the Court Annexed Arbitration Program. Blood Bank Donor. If elected to the Board, it will be an honor and privilege to utilize my training and experiences on behalf of the owners of the N.E.C.A. |
I believe I can provide insight from a different perspective that would assist the Association with making decisions and help the community. I have been part of several different non-profit organizations and community associations. My cultural experiences overseas can provide valuable insight for the Association. In these travel, I discovered that each country has its own uniqueness and benefits that we can draw from to help our community. I also offer my education in engineering and my Master’s of Business Administration to understand the technical aspects from a business perspective. Furthermore, I have had experience working with the City Administration. |
