Board of Directors 2009

Diane Kazama
Secretary

Term Expires: 2011

Ms. Diane Kazama is a retired elementary teacher.  She taught in various public schools throughout her 26-year career with the Department of Education.  While actively teaching, she served on the Hawaii State Teachers Assocation’s Negotiations Committee and was the Central Chapter’s chairperson of the Elections Committee.  She represented Hawaii teachers at several National Education Association national conventions and conferences.  She supervised student teachers from the University of Hawaii and Linfield College in Oregon.  She was inducted to the honorary Women Educators’ Society of Alpha Delta Kappa.

Ms. Kazama has resided in Newtown since 1977 with her family.  She has served in many community volunteer positions when her children were younger—in AYSO, Little League, Drill Team Hawaii, and Aiea High, Iolani and Punahou Schools.  Within the last few years, two of her married children have returned to Newtown as homeowners with their young families.

Her interest and involvement in the association is to create a safe, friendly community for all our families.  The association must address the needs of a diverse community by keeping communication with all homeowners a high priority.
